Ashley Hananiah of Hananiah Pottery is passionate about many things but creating, teaching, and sharing art is ultimately what drives her. "I started my love in the arts by influence from my Oma (Grandma in German). She exposed me to many artists, art movements, and creative thinking as she took care of me as a child...The time I had with her was the greatest influence another person had on my life." It was always clear to Ashley that she needed to pursue a career that would allow her to practice her creative skill and passion.
After graduating from Kean University with a BFA and Art Teaching Certificate, she found herself teaching multiple art forms in Newark. "In that career, I felt like I was contributing positively to society. I was able to bring the grit from my childhood to the classroom, by helping my students express the negativity they sometimes experienced into meaningful art." "I had a rough childhood, my family divorced when I was young and I was bombarded with negative drama and energy from people closest to me. As a child I had to grow up fast and ignore my surroundings, to survive... I turned to the creation of art to allow me to block negativity and use my emotions for something productive. I always have been powered by my past to change the family patterns into something positive and impactful."
About All Things Local
We partner with local artists, craftsmen, and makers, to provide online and in-store venues for customers to create their own one-of-a-kind gifts, and gift boxes, of locally made products.
We are in awe of the creativity, innovation, courage, and hard work of entry-level makers across the United States. Our vision is to bring their incredible products and stories to our customers, highlighting the spirit of entrepreneurship that makes America amazing.
Our customers take great pride in their roots, and in the communities in which they live. Our goal is to give them year-round access to locally made products, to give as gifts, or to simply to retain for their own enjoyment. And in doing so, to have the satisfaction of knowing that they are supporting their local small businesses and communities.
Our Value to Customers
Customers can go online, call us, or visit our store to purchase one-of-a-kind, local, handmade gifts. Many products can be customized to meet unique requirements.
