The Kilkenny Cats - Celtic Traditions

The Kilkenny Cats are a unique trio of friends who play music in the Celtic tradition liberally sprinkled with traditional tunes from other cultures including selections composed by Steve Leech, who brings guitar, Irish bouzouki and vocals. The musical blend is completed with Laura Leech on flute and tin whistle and Eileen Kennedy on mandolin.

The trio started playing together in 2015 just for fun but soon graduated to performing in a variety of public venues including art openings, St. Patrick's Day parties, and other celebrations in Red Bank, Long Branch, and Staten Island.

Their largely instrumental repertoire includes toe-tapping Irish jigs, reels and hornpipes, haunting waltzes and airs, and even a few polkas that take their audiences on a tour of Ireland, Scotland, England, Boston, Sicily, and even Flatbush and Staten Island. Comic relief is provided by tenor Steve's renditions of irreverent Irish ditties.
When not performing as the Kilkenny Cats, the trio are involved in a variety of other musical endeavors. Steve and Eileen sing with the Shrewsbury Chorale and in their respective church choirs and Laura plays flute in the Colts Neck Band.
