Vicky Culver - Elegant Photo Collages
Vicky became an artist when she was a little girl. She studied at Manchester Metropolitan University, England, and at the Guild of Creative Art with Tera Yoshimura. She is inspired by life and nature, and credits the works of David Hockney as an influence on her art.
A resident of Howell, New Jersey, since 1987, Vicky has participated in hundreds of group shows, and is still active as an Exhibiting Member of the Guild of Creative Art; the Art Alliance of Monmouth County; Audubon Artists, NYC; the Art Society of Monmouth County; Belmar Arts Council; Freehold Art Gallery; Georgian Court University; the Freehold Art Society; McKay Imaging, Red Bank; the Noyes Museum, the Monmouth County Arts Council; the Wainwright House Museum; formerly Torche’ Galerie in Belmar, and the Dolphin Watch Gallery in Corolla, NC.
Solo shows in the past include the Art & Attic, Red Bank; Brookdale Western Monmouth Branch; Fidias Gallery; PNC Bank, Howell; the Guild of Creative Art, Shrewsbury; Little Silver Borough Hall; Poricy Park, Middletown; Powys Gallery; the “Black Box”, Asbury Park; the Navesink Theater; Metuchen Public Library; Terner House Gallery, Ocean, NJ; West Long Branch Public Library, Salmagundi Club, NYC; La Quinta Gallery, Albuquerque, NM; and in Madison, Wisconsin
Vicky’s hand-crafted photo collages can be found in private collections throughout the USA, Europe and New Zealand. And, her biography is included in “Who’s Who in American Art” 2006-2018 and “Who’s Who in American Women” 2006-2018. She has received many awards, locally and nationally, and is the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.
She uses Mixed Media, Photo Collage, and Photography, and is back to painting in Acrylic after a 50-year hiatus. Her photo collages are hand crafted, not digital. She literally cuts up her photographs and reassembles them as pieces of art.
“There is never enough time to dedicate long periods to my art,” Vicky laments. “Life gets in the way sometimes - which becomes frustrating.”
When she retires, she hopes to solve this problem.
